Drone Roof Inspection — See What's Actually Up There

An FAA Part 107 pilot flies your roof, captures every slope in high resolution, and scores its condition against objective criteria. About 20 minutes, nobody on your shingles, and you keep the report — whether you hire us or not.

Why It Matters

Most Roofing Decisions Are Made Without Data

The usual roof inspection is someone climbing a ladder, walking a few slopes, and coming down with an opinion. There is no record of what they saw, no way to compare this year to last year, and no evidence to hand an insurance adjuster later. If the recommendation is a $30,000 replacement, you are taking it on faith.

There is also a physical problem with walking a roof: foot traffic knocks granules loose, and on a hot Texas afternoon softened shingles bruise under a boot. An inspection meant to measure wear can quietly add to it.

Flying the roof solves both. Every slope gets captured at high resolution — including the steep and fragile sections nobody should stand on — and the imagery is dated and archived, so the record still exists when someone asks about it two years from now.

What You Get

An Engineering-Grade Condition Report

High-Res Imagery

Every slope photographed in detail — valleys, ridges, flashing, penetrations, and the sections you cannot see from the ground.

3D Model & Measurements

A dimensionally accurate model of your roof, so square footage, pitch, and material quantities come from measurement rather than estimation.

Objective Condition Score

Your roof scored against consistent criteria — not one inspector's judgment call on one particular afternoon.

Archived for Life

Stored in a searchable archive and time-stamped. When a carrier asks what condition your roof was in, the answer already exists.

The Process

Twenty Minutes, Start to Finish

  • Book it — pick a time; you do not need to be home, and nobody comes inside
  • We fly — an FAA Part 107 certified pilot launches from your yard and captures every slope
  • We score it — imagery is processed into a 3D model and graded against objective criteria
  • You get the report — condition score, imagery, and a plain recommendation: protect, repair, or replace

The drone mapping and 3D-modeling software is built in-house rather than bought off a shelf, which is why the report is a real deliverable instead of a folder of photos. Meet the aircraft on the Roof Hawk™ page →

After the Report

Three Honest Outcomes

The inspection is not a sales funnel with one exit. The data points to one of three answers, and we tell you which:

  • Protect — the roof is sound but aging, and rejuvenation adds 5–20 years for up to 75% less than replacement. This is the most common outcome.
  • Repair — a few specific problem areas need attention, and nothing else does.
  • Replace — the roof is genuinely finished. We say so, we show you why in the imagery, and we handle the replacement ourselves. See what that actually costs in Texas →
FAQ

Drone Roof Inspection Questions

What is a drone roof inspection?

A drone roof inspection uses an FAA Part 107 certified pilot and a high-resolution camera drone to photograph and map every slope of your roof from the air. Instead of someone walking the roof with a clipboard, you get high-resolution imagery, a 3D model, precise measurements, and an objective condition score — captured in about 20 minutes without anyone setting foot on your shingles.

How much does a drone roof inspection cost?

Ours is free, with no obligation. We fly the roof, score its condition, and give you the report whether or not you hire us for anything. We would rather show you real data and let you decide than sell you a roof you do not need.

Is a drone inspection better than someone walking the roof?

For assessment, yes — and for two reasons. First, foot traffic damages shingles, especially aging or heat-softened ones, so a walk-on inspection can cause the very granule loss it is looking for. Second, a person on a roof sees a few square feet at a time and records it from memory; a drone captures every slope in high resolution, including steep or fragile sections nobody should be standing on.

Can a drone roof inspection be used for an insurance claim?

That is exactly what it is built for. You receive dated, high-resolution imagery of the whole roof plus an objective condition report — the kind of documentation an adjuster can work from. We archive every assessment, so if a carrier questions your roof condition months or years later, the evidence already exists and is time-stamped.

Do I need to be home for the inspection?

No. The flight happens from your yard and takes roughly 20 minutes. You do not need to take time off work, and nobody needs to come inside. We send the report when it is ready.

What does the inspection actually check for?

Granule loss, shingle brittleness and cracking, lifted or missing shingles, flashing and pipe-boot condition, hail bruising, storm damage, and drainage or ponding problems. The result is a condition score plus a plain recommendation: protect, repair, or replace.

What happens after the inspection?

You get the report and an honest recommendation. If the roof is sound but aging, rejuvenation is usually the best value. If a few areas are damaged, we repair those. If it is genuinely finished, we will tell you that too — and we handle full replacements ourselves.
