Illustrative estimate only. GoNano pricing varies by product (Revive / Fortify) and roof condition; replacement costs vary by home. Your free assessment determines exact pricing.
Based on $5.50–$8.00 per square foot installed for a typical Texas asphalt replacement, and our own treatment pricing for rejuvenation. It is a range, not a quote — the six things below move it more than roof size does.
What a Calculator Cannot See
A calculator knows your roof area and nothing else. Everything that actually moves a roofing bill is either underneath the shingles or invisible from the ground.
Layers
Every existing layer has to come off, get hauled and get tipped. A second layer roughly doubles tear-off labour and disposal on the same roof area.
Pitch
A steep roof needs more safety setup and slows the crew down. Two houses with identical square footage can differ by thousands on pitch alone.
Decking
Invisible until the shingles are off. On one of our jobs rotten decking on the back slope added a change order mid-project.
Hip and ridge
The capping along peaks and angles is slow hand work. On a Springtown repair it came to $2,615 against $638 of field shingle work on the same roof.
Code upgrades
Current code may require ice-and-water shield, drip edge or ventilation the original roof never had. Required, and often missing from the cheapest bid.
Disposal
Dump fees are charged on nearly every job and are rarely quoted up front. Ours have run from $167 to $571 depending on volume.
We publish a real example of exactly this: our own estimate on one Springtown roof went from $1,125.54 to $5,628 once the roof was opened up — and the shingle, labour and dump lines between those two documents changed by eighty-nine cents. See it line by line →
The More Expensive Question
Not "what does a new roof cost" — but "does this roof actually need one?"
A roof can look finished and still be structurally sound: shingles that have dried out and lost flexibility rather than shingles that have failed. That distinction is worth roughly $30,000, and it is answerable with evidence rather than opinion.
A drone assessment scores the roof against consistent criteria and tells you which of the two you have. It costs nothing, and you keep your score and a summary report with photographs either way.
See How the Score WorksWorking Out Your Roof Size
Roof area is not the same as floor area. Multiply your home's footprint by a pitch factor:
- Shallow pitch — about 1.1× the footprint
- Typical pitch — about 1.3×
- Steep pitch — up to 1.5×
A 2,000 sq ft single-storey home with a typical pitch is therefore roughly 2,600 sq ft of roof. Two storeys with the same footprint means a smaller roof, not a larger one.
You do not need to be precise here. Our assessment builds a dimensionally accurate 3D model of your roof, so square footage, pitch and material quantities come from measurement rather than estimation. How the assessment works →

Roof Cost FAQ
How much does a new roof cost in Texas?
For a typical single-family home in Dallas–Fort Worth, a full asphalt shingle replacement generally runs $22,000 to $45,000 or more. On a per-square-foot basis that is roughly $5.50 to $8.00 installed. Size, pitch, material grade, the number of existing layers and the condition of the decking underneath all move that number substantially.
How accurate is a roof cost calculator?
It gets you a range, not a quote. A calculator knows your roof area and nothing else, and the things that move a roofing bill most are invisible from the ground: how many layers have to come off, how steep the slopes are, and how much decking has rotted. We publish a real example where our own estimate went from $1,125.54 to $5,628 on the same roof once it was opened up — and the shingle and labour lines barely moved.
How do I measure my roof for an estimate?
Multiply your home's footprint by a pitch factor: roughly 1.1 for a shallow roof, 1.3 for a typical pitch, and up to 1.5 for a steep one. A 2,000 sq ft single-storey home with a typical pitch is therefore about 2,600 sq ft of roof. You do not need to be precise for an estimate, and our drone assessment measures it exactly from a 3D model rather than estimating at all.
Is roof rejuvenation cheaper than replacement?
Substantially, when the roof qualifies. Rejuvenation treats a structurally sound roof that is drying out and adds 5 to 20 years for up to 75% less than a tear-off — frequently less than a single wind and hail deductible. It is not an option for a roof that has genuinely failed, and we will tell you which situation yours is in before quoting anything.
What is not included in a roof cost estimate?
The usual omissions are decking replacement, code upgrades such as ice-and-water shield or drip edge that the old roof never had, and disposal. Dump fees alone have run from $167 to $571 on our own jobs. If a quote looks unusually low, those are the lines to check for.
Do you charge for a roof estimate?
No. An FAA Part 107 pilot flies the roof, scores its condition against consistent criteria, and you receive your Roof Health Score and a summary report with photographs of what we found — whether or not you hire us for anything.
